Tomb Raider 5 was released in 2000 and was the game that actually got me interested in the series! Joby Wood, a level designer for the game, has kindly donated some developer files and reference photos that were used during development. We hope this collection will be useful for level editors, researchers and gaming enthusiasts.

Reference Galleries

As with other Tomb Raider games, the designers took reference photographs and scanned various books for use in levels and textures. Below are the original images that were used to help create the Russian base and Submarine levels.

You can download all reference photos as one archive (password: 196833) if you prefer.

Early versions of levels in a PS1 ISO

Retro aka JRTombRaider used our  files to compile a somewhat playable Playstation 1 ISO. Use an emulator like epsxe to play these and read notes.txt in the archive for more info. These levels are repackaged without any modification, meaning they have outdated data that doesn’t necessarily work as intended. This is just a quick test build.

upd 15/08 – Sinking Sub is now playable
